2 Week Wait referrals 

If your doctor or nurse want you to be seen urgently 'to rule out the possibility of cancer'

  • you should be given a '2 Week Wait Form'  in your appointment which explains what happens next. 
  • we will make a '2 Week Wait' electronic referral direct the to the hospital within 1 working day. 
  • the hospital should contact you within a few days.

Sussex Community Trust - AAA Screening Programme

How To Access

Men in their 65th year are routinely contacted by the screening programme and offered an appointment. The screening programme is provided with details of men registered at GP practices in the area, and selection is based on date of birth. Older men who have not been screened before and who are registered with a GP in Sussex can self refer by contacting the screening programme office (telephone, letter or email). A mutually convenient appointment at one of the community based clinics can then be arranged.

NHS Referrals to services led by hospital consultants  0203 824 2001

We will refer you to a Referral Management Service (RMS) run by Optum. 

RMS will check that the referral has all the information needed and meets local criteria. 

RMS will then telephone you to arrange your appointment.  If they are unable to contact you they will book an appointment for you on the NHS e-Referral system.    

RMS will send you a BOOKING LETTER with details of your appointment, and how to change it if you want to. 

If you have not received your BOOKING LETTER within 3 weeks contact Optum:

NHS e-Referral Service  

  • Your Booking Letter will contain a Booking Reference Number, and RMS will also send you a Password
  • With your Booking Reference Number and Password you can manage your referral online. 
  • You can check, change, or cancel your appointment, and cancel your referral.

Waiting for an NHS Appointment

If you think you have been waiting too long or you need a more urgent appointment please: 

Please speak DIRECT to Patient advice and liaison service (PALS) at the hospital.

Please do not ask the surgery or you doctor to contact the hospital as GP letters are no longer accepted.
