Shingles Vaccine

We are offering the shingles vaccine to the government recommended age groups, generally people in their 70s, but not everyone is eligible. Click here to find out if you qualify

Substance Misuse

A specialist nurse works in the practice one afternoon a week and manages a programme of methadone maintenance with a small number of patients. Methadone is only prescribed for patients undertaking this programme.

Smoking Cessation

We encourage all our smoking patients to give up the habit.  If you would like advice and help to do so, please make an appointment with Diane, our Health Care Assistant (or email [email protected]).

Pneumococcal Vaccination

Pneumococcal vaccination is available to all patients over 65 years and any younger patients in a risk group such as chronic respiratory or heart disease. Pneumococcal vaccination is available throughout the year.

Phlebotomy (blood taking)

If your doctor or nurse has asked you to have a blood test, see reception to make an appointment. If you require a fasting blood test, you will be given an appointment as early as possible in the morning.

Palliative Care

The practice implements the gold standard in palliative care. Monthly meetings with doctors, district nurses and the Macmillan nurse are held to discuss patients requiring palliative care. The practice ensures there is good communication with the out of hours services and with the Martlets hospice.

MMR Catch-up

People born between 1980 and 1990 are too old to have received two doses of the MMR vaccine in childhood. The practice has therefore implemented a system to recall these patients for an MMR vaccination. Patients requiring the vaccine should ask for an appointment with the practice nurse.

Minor Surgery

The practice carries out some forms of minor surgery in a special clinic held by Dr Jens Petzold.

You can be referred to the clinic by your own doctor.

Meningitis ACWY

Vaccination for young adults.

Major Depression

Depression is the second most common cause of disability worldwide and the third most common reason for consultation in general practice.

The practice identifies patients with major depression and records the severity and any interventions carried out follow national guidelines. You can self refer for counselling here (CBT)
