All patients needing a referral to secondary care are now allowed to choose from several options about where they are referred.

When your doctor refers you, you will be telephoned within 5 working days by BICS (Brighton and Hove Integrated Care Service) who will guide you through the NHS Choose and Book system. BICS will give you information about available hospitals or clinics that are suitable, both in the local area and outside the area. Once you have chosen your hospital they will book an appointment for you. Please note that some specialities are not eligible for a choice of provider.
